Twin Peaks Trail, Eklutna Lake – Anchorage, Alaska

March 21, 2016

I went to Eklutna Lake yesterday, but given the weather, this doesn’t even look like the same place! Eklutna lake has several trails. Yesterday I chose the Eklutna Lakeside Trail, and today I chose to hike the Twin Peaks Trail and the Spillway Trail. Both trails were easy to follow, however the first 2.5 miles of the Twin Peaks trail is uphill…and the last 2.5 are back down those same hills. The Spillway trail is short and flat.

The Spillway Trail offers a great view from the lake level (pictured above).

The incline on the Twin Peaks trail isn’t too steep, but there aren’t really any places to rest on the hike up. Once you get to the top, there is a bench which is perfect for resting and taking in the view (pictured below).

The trail continues past the bench, but this trail was covered in snow and I ended up turning around before making it to the end of the trail due to safety concerns. I’ll save that part of the trail for a summer day!

For more information I found the following websites helpful:

This blog is simply a log of my personal experiences. It is not a travel guide, a trail guide, any other sort of a guide, and it is not intended to give information for replication.
