Bodenburg Butte Trail (south side trail) – Palmer, Alaska

March 31, 2016

We had intended to hike the north side trail (supposedly easier trail) of Bodenburg Butte, however the GPS took us to the south side trail (“Old” Bodenburg Butte Trail) so we hiked the south side trail instead. This trailhead is on private property and there is a $3 parking fee.

The trail was a little steep and washed out in places, but overall I didn’t find this trail too difficult given that the distance was only about .63 miles (according to my Fitbit) to the top.

The view from the butte is beautiful in all directions, and offers a great view of the Knik Glacier and the Knik River (pictured above).

This was a pretty quick hike and a busy trail today.  The mosquitos are also out on the butte!

For more information I found the following websites helpful:

This blog is simply a log of my personal experiences. It is not a travel guide, a trail guide, any other sort of a guide, and it is not intended to give information for replication.
