Lower Winner Creek Trail – Girdwood Alaska

May 8, 2016

I called up to Alyeska Resort and the hand tram on the Lower Winner Creek Trail is finally open for the spring/summer!  We started the trail from the Crow Creek Road trailhead. This trail was very well maintained and very easy to hike.

The best part about this trail is taking the hand tram across Winner Creek!

Pulling myself across was a little difficult, and got more difficult near the ends.

I would be lying if I said that I wasn’t a little scared pulling myself across this creek.

There are a couple of different cables also traversing the creek.

About .2 miles from the hand tram is Winner Creek gorge. The water here was a beautiful teal color.

We actually didn’t hike the entire trail which leads up to Alyeska Resort, but turned back around after the gorge.

We took the short trail over to Crow Creek Mine, however they are not open for the season yet.

For more information I found the filling websites helpful:

This blog is simply a log of my personal experiences. It is not a travel guide, a trail guide, any other sort of a guide, and it is not intended to give information for replication.
