Mount Marathon – Seward, Alaska

October 8, 2016

My Midwestern legs were not made to hike down steep mountains. I can not even imagine completing this trail by running the annual Mount Marathon Race. It was steep, slick, and hard enough just by walking.

The view from the top of Mount Marathon was pretty amazing. There was a glacier…

…a couple small glacier-fed lakes…

…waterfalls and a great view of Ressurection Bay…

…and a great view of the town of Seward.

This took us 2 hours and 43 minutes to finish the 2.3-mile 3,022-foot elevation hike.

I don’t anticipate ever running the Mount Marathon Race, but kudos to those who are able to even attempt this race!

This blog is simply a log of my personal experiences. It is not a travel guide, a trail guide, any other sort of a guide, and it is not intended to give information for replication.
