My Aurora Borealis app predicted a high KP Index last night, so I drove up to the Old Knik River Bridge off of the Old Glen Highway. Shortly after getting there, the sky started turning green behind the mountains. The sky was very clear and it was a brisk 2 degrees.
I am still learning to take manual photos, and it seem like by the time I get the setting figured out my best opportunity is gone. Even when the lights aren’t at their brightest, they are stunning. The Big Dipper also made its way into my photo again.
Unfortunately my job requires me to get a significant amount of sleep in order for me to perform it safely. Otherwise, I could have stayed out all night long! I imagine these lights got more beautiful and brighter later in the evening.
This blog is simply a log of my personal experiences. It is not a travel guide, a trail guide, any other sort of a guide, and it is not intended to give information for replication.
