Byron Glacier Trail – Portage, Alaska

July 27, 2017

I’ve made the short hike to Byron Glacier a few times, but this trip offered some of the coolest views. My winter hike was interesting with the ice caves, but much of the glacier was still under avalanche this trip.

Many people on the trail were stopping at the first avalanche, but some of the best views of the blue ice were just a little bit further. This is a glacier where if you don’t know what you are looking for, you could be standing on the glacier and not even know it.

This blog is simply a log of my personal experiences. It is not a travel guide, a trail guide, any other sort of a guide, and it is not intended to give information for replication.
